After a brief hiatus from crafting illustrations, I am pleased to announce my new collection: The Stock Pot Collection. The Stock Pot Collection is inspired by the soups, stews, and chilis of the world. Basically, anything that comes from a big-old-pot parked on the stove is fair game for this design series. So without further ado, I’d like to introduce you to the first installment of The Stock Pot Collection: Tempura Udon.
Tempura Udon features all of the major players found in a bowl of udon noodle soup artfully arranged on a sea of soft pink. I love the color palette of a well-dressed bowl of this beloved soup. I am completely obsessed with the bright pinks of the fishcake slices, the punchy greens of the scallions and the hit of orange found in the shrimp’s tail. I think the colors play off of each other in such a beautiful and balanced way. A bowl of udon noodle soup is not just extremely appetizing, it is also an example of aesthetic excellence, as so much Japanese food is. How could I not make it the focus of my first soup-inspired designs?
If you’re interested in purchasing Tempura Udon you can find it now in my Society6 shop, but unlike The Sushi Collection, The Stock Pot Collection is not currently available in its entirety. I will be releasing new members of the collection periodically rather than all at once. If you’d like to stay abreast of new designs as they break, follow me on Instagram, Pinterest, or subscribe to Rhubarb & Cod on BlogLovin’.
